Working in the entertainment industry is seen as being one of the most glamorous things that a person can do with their life. You see actors who go and get everything from dental veneers Mississauga dentists are doing to plastic surgery to make themselves look perfect for the camera. And then there are directors who are making films with millions of dollars in the budget that will have everything from aliens to explosions that look real. But there are actually so many people working hard out of the spotlight to put a movie, television show, or live performance together. If you want do something a little more exciting then be a trademark Canada clerk then you might want to check out what a casting director does every day.

A casting director is someone who works closely with the director and producers to identify what the production needs in terms of actors and finds people to fill those slots. You might think that they just spend all of their time in a casting room getting people to read scenes about everything from how to know if your boyfriend is cheating to parents fighting but there is a lot that needs to go on before they can get to that point and actually see the actors.

The first thing that a casting director will do is evaluate the script and the vision of the director to find out what is needed of each of the performers. While it might be easy to tell that a character needs to be a certain look or age, you can't miss any small detail when you're building the right cast. If they are playing a pilates Toronto studio instructor then the casting director will find out if they actually need to do pilates in the film, for example. They need to go through and make a list of all of the needs for each character in the production, big and small.

Then a casting director needs to send out requests for resumes and headshots of different actors. This is sort of like working for a Toronto executive search where it will be a combination of you asking to meet with certain people and others trying to get to you. If you're working on a big name production then you might want a specific celebrity for one of the parts and are setting up interviews with the actor and director instead of a standard audition first. Some productions work differently then others and you might need to adapt to the director's needs.

The last part of a casting director's job is to set up auditions and actually pick the actors that they want for the production. This might require several rounds of auditions and you have to work with the wants of both the director and the producers to find the perfect people for the job.
